Mediterranean - cruises to this popular region can be booked already in April. April is a time, when many companies deliver to the ports of France, Italy, Portugal and Spain, their ships from the Caribbean.
The Mediterranean Sea at some extent can be called the region of year-round tourism. Some companies operate here, especially in its southern part, throughout the year. Among them is Italian cruise operator MSC and Costa, which ships offer winter cruises. The main winter cruise destinations in the Mediterranean Sea are the Canary Islands and Morocco. New Year is the peak of youth tourism. Many Europeans prefer to book cruises to the Canary Islands for Christmas with visiting many noisy parties in Las Palmas and on Tenerife.
Period from April to October is considered to be the classic season for cruises in the Mediterranean. At the same time, depending on the region, it can be high in October (Spain, Portugal) and May (France, Italy, Greece) also. Anyway, the best prices for cruises in the region can be found either at the end of spring or in mid-September.
High season in the Mediterranean is summer lasting until September. And September is a month, when elderly tourists from the US and Britain prefer to spend their holidays. For them it is not only the possibility to see European architecture, but also to participate in numerous festivals of wine harvest, which are often organized throughout Southern Europe.
The best season for family travels across the Mediterranean is July and August. However the prices for this period are the highest in a year, many companies attract tourists with special offers for accommodation and meals on board. Since April it makes sense to seek for the last-minute cruises to such popular destinations as Greece, Italy or Turkey.
